KICKY COLORED UPHOLSTERY AT KIM SALMELA ATELIER

Sometimes being fearless with color gives a pig payoff. With glam touches, colorful fabrics and retro details, the upholstery collection of Kim Salmela, the former set designer for Prince, is a lot of fun. I spotted it at High Point, and think a piece of it here or there could really make an interior come to life. Deep sofa tufts, spirited fabric patterns and interesting detailing make the Kim Salmela Atelier collection of over 40 US made pieces worth a look. Try on some color and see how you feel. Are you feeling uplifted? You will soon!

A deep tufted sofa in midnight blue.

Great for a child's room or touch of pop art detail, the Stella Chair with star cut-out arm has personality plus.
Ready to sink into, the Joplin Chair makes you want to tackle a good book.

A modern take on the classic, the Calhoun Wing Chair has tufting on the back. This crazy riot of color watercolor print was EVERYWHERE.

A pillow from their collection mixes ikat patterns and stripes in a very cool way.

A barrel back and deep seat on the Bijou Chair channel Frank Sinatra in Vegas.

The Joplin Sofa is a trad option, with a curved arm and tight back. The color, is anything but. Love it.

With mid-century modern tapered lines, the Porter Chair

A white painted wooden leg and upholstered cushion on the square Darby Stool make it a good addition at the end of  a bed.
Entirely upholstered, the Farha Stool has a a Moroccan arch way cut-out detail at the bottom. It makes a great pull-up seat.

Colorful abstract art tied the whole fun feeling together in her booth.
