White Bedroom Furniture

With white bedroom furniture sets or black bedroom furniture sets you can achieve a contemporary or a traditional look in your bedroom. Both can create a stunning and vivid décor that can make you proud. Of course, it is all a matter of taste.
Nothing will open-up and brighten a bedroom more than white furniture. White has been popular for centuries. The classic, historic look includes antique

Reading spot...

Feeling a bit under the weather today... too many plans can make you tired I think.
This would be the perfect place to take a few hours and leisurely read with a big cup of tea.

Wishing you a restful Saturday!

Masculine & transitional...

A little inspiration for a Friday.  This is an inspiration board from my presentation this week.  I fell for the easy semi masculine feel of this one.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing a little bit of your day with me here, it is so nice to be able to share my work and ideas with everyone.

The Perfectly Imperfect Home

Turnaround queen editor in chief Deborah Needleman has put the rumors to rest, she is leaving after over two years at the WSJ Magazine and the Off Duty section she created to go to T Magazine. New Yorker's love an underdog, from sports teams to newspapapers, so she will be rolling up her sleeves and getting to work as she sets her sights on transforming the lackluster T Magazine into a must-read. Her Midas touch is proven, as she helmed Domino, gave new life to the WSJ Magazine and created the relatable and interesting Off Duty section, filling it with stuff you never knew you wanted to learn more about but ended up craving. She has also written two home books most design watchers can't live without, The Domino Book of Decorating and The Perfectly Imperfect Home.  Hats off to @debbieneedles, the girl loves a challenge!

A little of this..

Hello there, sorry for my absence yesterday... how quickly the days seem to pass.  Another busy week is almost ready to be put to rest and I am definitely dreaming of the weekend.  This weekend will be just us girls relaxing here at home, my daughter and me.  I am excited to take a little break from work and spend some time getting the house in order.
We start our final round on the kitchen renovation next week and I am excited and anxious about it.  There are still many choices to be made, that is how it is works around here.  I did speak with my furniture maker yesterday though and we are going to put a contrasting color in the new piece that will hold all of my everyday dishes, now someone needs to pick that color please!
I have pulled a bunch of greys, and greiges to start with.  I will be sure to keep you up to date on all of the selections.
I am also working with the wonderful Shari from Little Blue Deer on a makeover for the blog, it will be fun to have a fresh new look around here don't you think?

Also, a little bit of a delayed THANK YOU to Leaf Magazine for including some pieces from the shop in their current issue!

You now have a great reason to take a weekend leaf peeping trip. Jewelry designer Cara Hotchkiss recently opened Oliphant, a fresh home store that captures the same fun, colorful spirit as her bright beaded Oliphant necklaces. The shop, situated in the old Talbot's space, is sure to become a destination. The result of her stylish eye is a chic and on-trend mix of great brands you know and love. She has hand - picked pieces from Lee Industries, Roberta Roller Rabbit pillows, over sized art from Natural Curiosities, colorful table lamps and graphic rugs.  This bucolic upstate Connecticut town  is the prefect place to visit come fall.  Fun activities abound, as does delicious food in restaurants from former NYC chefs. SPARKLE APLENTY: ASHA TRUNK SHOW AT TREILLAGE

If you are on the Upper East Side this coming Thursday September 27th, pop into Bunny Williams' Treillage to shop from 2-6pm for shiny baubles by Asha New York. Supremely talented Ashley Dodgen-McCormick's beautiful jewelry incorporates well-cut gemstones as well as mother of pearl with lustrous metals.  Taking her design inspiration from travels to Florence to Paris, architecture, art and historical references, her line is striking and unusual.  Her signature quatrefoil pattern came from a detail in Sainte Chappelle Cathedral. Settings are highly detailed, cuts include cabochon, and 14 karat vermeil finishes mix well with your existing pieces. Lets just say I covet every item, and am itching for a great pair of every-day earrings cause they look like a million dollars.

Bedroom Furniture

The bedroom is your private haven, a space that belongs just to you, where you can be on your own and relax after a tiring day. Thus, it becomes important that everything about your bedroom, including the Bedroom Furniture, should be chosen with utmost care so that it accentuates style and enhances your comfort.
Bedroom Furniture should be designed keeping in mind the profile of the person living

final...

Ahh,  a few little snaps from my final install of last week.  It was nice to put the major part of the work behind me.  There are always little changes to be made and switch outs that need to happen as with all installs.  It seems that inevitably there is something that arrives broken, in the wrong color or just does not arrive at all, and you have to be able to make the decision on a moments notice as to whether making a switch will change your vision for the project or if it will make it even better.
There is nothing relaxing or easy about the install days, it is a bunch of work with the greatest of rewards- a finished project!

From the past - Broekie Bags

I learnt to sew from my delightful cousin when I spent a week with him in Nieu Bethesda back in July 2010.  I'd just come back from working at a Lodge in Northern Mozambique and was feeling rather shell shocked at being back in civilisation so headed for a small town fast.

Anyway... from this came the Broekie bags.  I love Schweschwe with a huge passion and have metres of the stuff in my cupboard.  Combined with the lace and felt shapes I think it all just works very well together.

These were also one of the first products I tried to sell in various shops but no one would take them... which I was sad about but I kept making them and selling them via friends and family.

I have found that Fabric City on Sir Lowry Road behind the Castle in Cape Town carries the widest selection.

Good Food Center Street Anaheim

Yesterday morning we went to the small flea market in downtown Anaheim, there was not much for me at the flea market but I fell in love with the new shops in the area.  This little cafeteria style restaurant was one of the best local designs I have seen lately.  LOVED the doors and windows along with the tile detailing and furnishings.  A great concept and very well done.  There are 3 eateries in the space and then there is communal seating inside and out.

It is a little hard to tell from the photos but the front of the building is curved which I love loved.

Need to make some of these for outside at our house!
