Lucite love...

I have completely fallen for Lucite.  I love the odd piece or two mixed in with traditional or transitional spaces.  It is just that little bit of fun that some spaces need.  I recently bought myself the lucite cube that we started selling and I love it, even if it is a bit different than my norm.  Do you have the lucite bug?

LEISURELY PURSUITS

In the Olympic spirit, here are some games to get you outdoors this August.  Entertain outside and play, or just be prepared for your houseguests if they have a competitive streak.

Keep the lawn action going with a delux Bocce Ball and Horseshoe Set by St Pierre. Perfect for sunset cocktail time.

A French cousin of Bocce, Petanque originated in the countryside of Provence. The uber modern chrome and teak set from Design Within Reach will impress your design snob guests.

Ok, so maybe the fake glass bottles aren't as chic as Jones Soda's, but a good game of Ring Toss can get any party started. From Target.

Get around the water in a 12 -seater electric Duffy Boat, that tops out at 6 miles per hour.  I first laid eyes on these cuties in Newport Beach.

Or, take this handmade in Maine beauty out for a spin. The beautiful wooden Wee Two, from Laughing Loon, is perfect for navigating hard-to-access inaccessible ponds in remote and beautiful places.

If big waves get you out of bed early in the morning in Montauk, the Malwitz Keel Fish Surf Board from Saturday's Surf NYC is a good way to practice your pop-ups and hang ten.

that's just what I need..

After touring pools yesterday and analyzing outdoor furnishing needs for them, all I can think about is a little bit of this kind of pool use.  I think I could handle a bit of this all the way down to the wrinkly toes and fingers - you?

What are your plans this weekend?

I am completely loving these pics.  Totally smitten with the details in black, I think they make the spaces.  I cannot believe we are already at Friday!!  I hope you have amazing plans for the weekend or no plans at all which is pretty amazing in itself!

LA Mart Highlights

These are just a few of my favorites from the LA show.  I was so excited to see Eloquence with their showroom there again.  I picked up that long mirror for myself and the pendants above are the same as the pieces I bought for my kitchen remodel.

It was a small show this time but I did get exactly what I needed in the showrooms we visited which was a good addition to going to Atlanta.

LEAVING LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas Market was filled with razzle dazzle, glitz and glam. I caught up with LA-based Betsy Burnam, New Yorker's Darren Henault and Philip Gorrivan and Atlantan Robert Brown for Editor at Large Editor TV, and spent time with the wonderful bloggers that were there. Every trade show I look forward to seeing the group, because everyone sees the market with a fresh pair of eyes. Reading about their finds is one of the best residual effects. Author/Today Show Home Contributor and all-around fun time Susanna Salk moderated a designer panel, Ahead of The Curve, a highlight for sure. Traditional Home sent us on a fun showroom Treasure Hunt, where we tweeted our finds, and explored new territory. My trend panel with energetic Liezel Munez, the "eye" Jamie Meares of Furbish Studio and I Suwanee, pr and marketing gal Mila Becker and hilariously funny Amy from Glo.com was incredibly fun, and I think we should take it on the road. Our varied perspectives complimented the conversation with a ping-pong effect of spirited dialog makes panels great. All in all, I am pleased I returned to World Market Center this year, to see favorite companies and familiar friendly faces. Stay tuned for my favorite market finds, coming to you soon.

Traditional Home had great signage welcoming us to the vast, 3 building complex that makes up the market.

They even pre-scouted trends which made our hunt smooth sailing.

The view from our hotel, The Aria, as the sun went down. All bets are off after that, because as the saying goes what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Except, of course, for the furniture and accessories you order.
